Ed Bernd Jr. taught Silva courses for several years, and then in 1981 was invited to join the headquarters staff in Laredo as Editor of the Newsletter, a position he held for the next 19 years.
During this time Ed worked with Mr. Silva on a dozen books, either as co-author or as an editor. In fact, Mr. Silva specifically asked Ed to co-author his last book, about the UltraMind ESP System, because he liked the way that Ed helped him to express his ideas.
During the time he worked here, Ed continued to teach both basic and advanced courses.

He also assisted Mr. Silva in the development of several new courses.
Under the guidance and tutelage of Jose Silva, Ed developed several courses, including the Silva Star Athlete and the Sales Power programs. He always sought Mr. Silva's guidance every step of the way, so that he could learn as much as possible about the coursework.
Ed also worked closely with Jose Silva's brother Juan Silva in developing an alumni association for graduates of the programs.
